Never Aim the Lens at Others without Permission

Never Aim the Lens at Others
without Permission
Dec.17.2017

Today, I experenced a circumstance which left me a deep impression.

This afternoon, I helld my DSLR camera equipped with the newly-bought lens and went outside to take photos. As I was looking for the target, I found a stall where there are baked sweet potatoes sold. The only thing I considered was to take this scene which was full of art. Then I point my camera to the smoke floating in the air. I took several pictures, approaching the stove. And all of a sudden, as sharp voice came into my ears,”What are you doing here? What picture are you taking?”I realized that the owner of that stalll was coming. After that, I felt so scared that I rapidly escaped.

The voice camee from a woman who was extremely angery when I was taking photos of her sweet potatoes. Then I fell into deep thought. Perhaps the woman was afraid herself, illegally selling sweet potatoes without paying tax. In that case, she might thought me as a journalist who would likely to take pictures and expose it to the public. If she was a kind person, she would say,”Why are you taking pictures oof my sweet potatoes, come and buy some to eat.” Regretfully however, she wasn’t. She did shout to me.

I was taught a lesson. My mum has reminded me before that when a photographer is going to take a picture of anyone else, he should ask for permission.Otherwise , this action will be thought as disrepect or impoliteness. Especailly when I was holding the camera with huge lens pointing to others, he or she will feel unwiling or unconfortable. Futhermore, the level that he or shee feels uncomfortble depends on the size of the lens. A big lens can made others think tha you are particularly focus on them even if the lens is not pointing to them. My mum also told me ,take out the camera from my bag when there’s other people holding one, or where there’s commonl known as a scenic spot, and do not use the camera under the circumstance that i’ll offend others.,

Overall, professional ethics are of great importance. Especially as a photographer , he should never invade others’ rights. He should also show full respect to the model and never aim the lens at others without permission.
